Experience & Activities

Dr. Ashwell Thomas is the Principal Consultant of Ashthom Consulting Inc. with many years’ executive management and training experience throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America.

He has served some regional and international organisations in the capacity of HR Executive Management positions for many years. He served on the Boards of several leading Private Sector organisations in Barbados and the Region, as well as public agencies in Barbados.

He is a past President of the Barbados Employers’ Confederation having served from 2002-2005, now a Trustee.

Dr. Thomas is one of the region’s most experienced Industrial Relations Practitioners and Mediators.

Dr. Thomas is also an Educator and taught part-time at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus and was an Adjunct Professor of Management at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech).

He is the author of several publications including “Planning for Tomorrow – A Retirement Planning Guide” (1998); “Industrial Relations Process and Practices – A Caribbean Perspective” (2009). His most recent book “Secrets to HRM Professional Effectiveness – A Handbook of Best Practices for HR Professionals” (2011). He received his tertiary education from the University of the West Indies (Mona) and Kensington University (U.S.A.) and the University of Bath (U.K.).

Dr. Thomas has earned his certification in Management Consulting from the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of Ontario, Canada in 2009 and is currently a practicing Certified Management Consultant (CMC).
